Little Tree

This sculpture was commissioned by two young parents as a memorial for their infant son, Robert. The trunk of the tree also holds the child's ashes. As such, it was both a technically challenging project and a tremendous honor to create.
The parents wanted the tree sculpture to be installed in their back yard as a private reminder of their son, but also as a piece that everyone would enjoy. The buds on the tree represent youth and life, and two fledgling doves perch in the branches. An inscription wraps around the trunk of the tree, blended with the texture of the trunk.
Little Tree is forged from a combination of steel sheet, hollow tubing and small round stock.
